Challenge Test Experience Questionnaire

Before you complete this questionnaire, please read the following carefully:

The CBPCA is currently certified as a HERS Provider only for additions and alterations – not new construction or solar verifications. The CBPCA does intend to apply for new construction and HERS II certifications in 2011.

Prices for all CBPCA providership services can be found on the Members Information page on the registry.

The Challenge test is an open-book test, but you must bring your own materials to the testing site. Books are not provided at testing sites.

If you fail the challenge test, you will be required to pay the same amount to retake the test at a later date. If both tests are failed, you will be required to take the Basic HERS Rater class.

The cost of the challenge test is $75. Another fee must be paid directly to the proctor at the CBPCA Approved Testing Facility. The amount charged by the testing facility varies from facility to facility and ranges from a flat fee of $45 to as much as $60 an hour. We suggest that you call several Sylvan Leaning Center locations in your area to compare rates.

The cost of field test proctoring (if required) is $200.

The CBPCA HERS Providership annual membership fee for HERS Raters and other certified energy efficiency professionals is $100.
